FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Krista Pacion Files for Representative of District 23

(Casa Grande, AZ)-Krista Pacion, a native Arizonan and long-time Casa Grande resident, filed nomination petition forms for the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 23. Nomination petition forms are used to collect signatures from registered voters to put candidates on the ballot, and the forms Pacion filed will qualify her to be on the ballot for the September 2, 2008 Democratic primary.

Pacion collected 905 signatures, more than double the 445 needed to qualify for the ballot and more than the number of signatures filed by any other candidate in the race for State Representative of District 23. She filed her signatures on May 27, 2008.

When elected to the legislature, Pacion wants to focus on fully funding education. “Education is one of the most valuable tools available to our children; it’s an investment in our children and Arizona’s future and should be treated as such,” Pacion said. She attributes education as one of the motivating factors for her run for office. Pacion is a product of Arizona’s public education system and is a first-generation college graduate.

Pacion’s passion doesn’t stop at education. She also wants to bring more jobs to the community and find short-term solutions to relieve traffic problems throughout the district. “There are a lot of options to explore where transportation is concerned,” Pacion said. “I want to provide immediate relief to traffic congestion by pulling cars off streets now, as well as plan for long term transportation needs.”

Pacion grew up in poverty. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Arizona, she became a Technical Writer. Pacion is currently a Senior Technical Writer for one of the largest software companies headquartered in Arizona. She’s also an active Democrat and veteran of several campaigns.

Filing nomination petitions was just the first step in the Pacion for the People 2008 campaign. Pacion asks registered voters in District 23 for their support, and more importantly, their vote in the Democratic primary on September 2, 2008. At the legislature, she will work with perseverance and dedication to develop common-sense solutions to issues facing District 23.  For more information, visit www.krista2008.com.
