About Krista Pacion
Hello, I’m Krista Pacion, and I’m running for State Representative in District 23, a large district that encompasses Florence, Maricopa, San Manuel, parts of Avondale and Apache Junction, Casa Grande, and several other cities.
As a native Arizonan who’s lived in Casa Grande for the last twenty years, I’m inherently fascinated with the growth and issues that face our state. It’s for this reason that I want to help shape our future as a State Representative. I plan to draw on my diverse background and experience to make decisions that make sense for Arizona.
I grew up in a low-income family and was taught from a young age that education was one of the most valuable tools available to me. I graduated from Casa Grande Union High School before moving on to the University of Arizona. At the UofA, I became a first-generation college graduate when I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. I double-majored in English and Creative Writing.
After graduation, I received my first “real” job as a Technical Writer. I’ve been in the Technical Writing field ever since, most recently as a Senior Technical Writer for one of the largest and most exciting software companies headquartered in Arizona.
I’ve always been interested in politics, and in 2003, I became active in local politics by volunteering for Howard Dean. It was on Dean’s campaign that I met my husband, Justin. We volunteered for Dean and Kerry, and Justin proposed to me during a debate-watching party, Kerry’s and Bush’s second debate, on October 8, 2004. We married a year later and have been happily married ever since.
Our family is very close-knit, and we live within five miles of each other in Casa Grande. You can often find me at my grandparents’ house, grabbing a cup of coffee before work, or at my sister’s house, playing the Wii with my nieces. Living so close to each other makes it easy to spend time together.
My political career transformed from volunteering for Presidential candidates to joining the Pinal County Democrats. I’ve been busy ever since, and have the following accomplishments under my belt:
- I’m an elected Precinct Committee Person - elected in 2004 and
re-elected in 2006. - I’m a State Committee Member for the Arizona Democratic Party -
elected in 2005 and re-elected in 2007. - I’m the Pinal County Democrats Treasurer - elected in 2005 and
re-elected in 2007. - I’m an Emerge Arizona graduate.
- I’m a former Emerge Arizona Board member - I resigned from the Board
to run for State Representative. - I received the 2005 Precinct Committee Person of the Year award.
- I’m the administrator and co-author for a political blog dedicated to
giving women a voice.
I am ready to add State Representative of District 23 to that list.
As your State Representative, I will work with perseverance and dedication. I will fully commit myself to listening to you and to taking a common sense approach to working on issues that face us and our communities. With your vote for State Representative, I will help to improve access to health care for families of all backgrounds and ages, to provide our children with a quality education from early childhood through college, to bring jobs to our communities so we can live in the same areas we work, and to improve roads and transportation.
